Solid Gold Berjangka | Asia-Pacific markets opened mixed on Tuesday, even as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite hit new highs on Wall Street overnight.
Asian traders will turn to the decision of the U.S. Federal Reserve.
Investors analyze the Fed’s updated forecasts on the timing and frequency of rate cuts. According to the Cme FedWatch tool, the market has come 11 months this year and is priced at 1 rate cut.
Asia-Pacific markets such as Australia, Hong Kong, Mainland China and Taiwan will return to trading on Tuesday after closing due to the previous day’s public holiday.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 0.42% and broad-based Topix rose 0.34%.
South Korea’s Kospi rebounded from Monday and gained 0.4 percent, while the smaller-cap Kosdaq was 0.64 percent higher.
Australia’s S&P/ASX200 fell 1%.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index futures were at 18,096, lower than HSI’s last close of 18,366.95.
